Project
This corner of nature located as a traffic intersection by the buses stand in Clapham Old Town is a pocket of green and seasonal colours. Initially established from wildflower turf in 2016 this meadow had, much like the Summer Beds, suffered the effects of lockdown.

Process
At my arrival in 2020 there was very little left of the initial plant display and instead grass and invasive spontaneous species had taken over.
We worked painstakingly to replace the grass with wildflowers, digging and sowing every rainy season. We added Rhinanthus minor (yellow rattle) to help us with the task.
I went and collected seeds from various community gardens and parks in London to sow in the
meadow in Clapham.
Local residents got involved with the choice of colours by bringing us their seeds and sharing their plant knowledge with us.
Local businesses are pleased with the improved aesthetic of the sites and it makes their customers
happier to come by.
