Project
We started working on the Old Town site in the Summer 2020 during the covid19 lockdown. Due to the pandemic the site was suffering from about a year left unattended. We welcomed this opportunity to restore the site, and also to sculpt it over time with a fresher look.
Process
Both of the summer beds contained a mix of low growing shrubs and herbacious perennials which we were able to propogate and redistribute in order to have a more dense and varied pallet. We introduced new species in tune with the original design which completed the new aesthetic, one that shifts naturally from season to season. The new balance of plants also improves the presence of wildlife such as bees, butterflies, spiders and moths.
Local residents have often mentioned how much they appreciate the new look and have even brought plants from their own gardens which we have gratefully recieved. The garden aslo plays a big role in drawing customers to the many businesses that surround the square and the owners have also conveyed their thanks for our hard work.
